Abstract

1419314 Dry shavers PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 27 Feb 1973 [1 March 1972] 9510/73 Heading B4B A shaving head for a dry shaver comprises reciprocable cutters 4 and 13 associated with stationary counter-cutters 3, 10 of a shaving section and trimming section respectively, the reciprocable cutters being formed separately and urged into contact with their associated counter-cutters by means of a spring 19 and coupled to a drive means 25 of the shaver so as to obtain a common reciprocating movement. The reciprocable cutter 13 of the trimming section is provided with comb teeth 14 for cooperation with similar teeth 11 on the stationary counter-cutter 10 and is formed with tabs 20 on which the spring 19 is located; the free ends of the spring are arranged to engage with lugs 22 formed on the ends of the reciprocable cutter 4. Both reciprocable cutters 4, 13 are formed with lugs 23, 24 respectively adapted to be engaged by the drive means 25. The counter-cutter 3 for the shaving section is in the form of perforated foil secured to a frame 6 which is pivotably mounted on the shaver head frame 8; a blocking device 9 retains the foil in its operative position. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the reciprocable trimming cutter 13 is provided two sets of comb teeth 14 arranged to co-operate with similar teeth 11 on a head frame 10, the cutter 13 being secured to an intermediate member 21 via tab-and-socket devices 32, 33. The reciprocable shaver cutter 4 is drivingly connected to the member 31 by a pin-and-slot device such that the cutter 4 may be urged by springs 36 into engagement with the foil 3; the foil is pivotably mounted on the frame 10 by U-shaped bracket 38, 40, (39), Fig. 4 (not shown). The member 31 is releasably retained in the frame 10 by means of resilient tabs 34.
