Abstract

1418625 Coated fabric JAMES NORTH & SONS LTD 3 Nov 1972 [4 Aug 1971] 3916/71 Heading B2E A flexible textile fabric is coated by applying a layer of material in liquid form which includes at least one anti-microbial additive to one side only and converting the liquid material converted to a durable flexible impervious coating with only partial impregnation of the fabric by the liquid. A suitable textile material is a knitted cotton fabric. Suitable materials for coating are polyvinyl chloride, rubber and synthetic rubbers. The additive may be both a bactericide and a fungicide. Suitable additives are 10, 10 oxybisphenox arsine, 2, 4, 4'-trichloro-2-hydroxy diphenyl ether. The fabric may be in glove form. In an example fabricbased industrial gloves are produced by dipping a knitted cotton interlock base supported on a hand-shaped former into a mixture comprising polyvinyl chloride, tricresyl phosphate, pigments and 2, 4, 4'-trichloro-2-hydroxydiphenyl ether, the former then being withdrawn, allowed to drain, inverted and then heated to cure the coating.
