Abstract

1418316 Scrubbing hot waste gases FISONS LTD 6 July 1973 [5 Aug 1972] 36670/72 Heading B1R Hot gases, e.g. from an incinerator 1, are passed through an indirect heat exchanger 3 and thence to a gas scrubber 4 where they are contacted with a liquid having a boiling point not more than 20‹C higher than the temperature of the gases entering the scrubber, are then passed to the heat exchanger 3 to be warmed by the incoming gases and are finally expelled to the atmosphere through stack 6. The liquid is sprayed into the scrubber 4 from sprays 5. Two or more scrubbers may be operated in series, the effluent from the last scrubber being passed back to the heat exchanger to cool the hot gases entering the first scrubber. Alternatively each scrubber may be provided with its own heat exchanger to reheat the exit gases before they pass to the next scrubber.
