Abstract

1417854 Vehicle wheel and tyre assemblies RUBERY OWEN & CO Ltd 25 May 1973 [26 May 1972] 24867/72 Heading B7C In a pneumatic tyre and wheel assembly the well of the wheel rim 3 contains a plurality of preformed moulded rigid arcuate plastics blocks 10 for preventing the beads of the tyre (not shown) from entering the well, the blocks 10 being retained against radially outward movement by means encircling the blocks which are such as to permit removal of the blocks for tyre-changing, and the peripheral surface of the blocks 10 being substantially flush with the bead seating surfaces 6, 7 of the rim. The blocks 10 may, as shown, be retained by spring wire rings 11 received in grooves 12 in the blocks. The adjacent ends of the blocks may abut or there may be gaps between the blocks. One bead seating surface 6 may be wider than the other whereby both tyre beads can be forced on to the seat 6 during fitting of the blocks.
