Abstract

1417422 Raising sunken objects H E MUNGEAM 26 March 1973 [19 May 1972 4 Aug 1972] 23776/72 and 36526/72 Heading B7S Apparatus for raising sunken objects comprises buoyancy tanks including a main tank 1 and a stabilizing tank 2 on each side thereof, the tanks being interconnected at top and bottom by pipes 3, 4, tank 1 having an inlet 5 for an air/liquid mixture from an injector and a water outlet 6. The tanks are first sunk to a desired depth by opening an air valve 7. After attachment to the sunken object the air/liquid is injected and air therefrom fills the tanks, discharging the liquid through outlet 6. Fig. 4 shows a grab for gripping the sunken object and is suspended from the tanks on wire ropes and pulleys 15, 16 and comprises frame members 10, 11 movable by a hydraulic ram 12.
