1417276 Emulsions IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 20 Feb 1974 [3 April 1973] 15832/73 Heading B1V [Also in Division C3] Oil in water emulsions can be prepared using as emulsifying agents compounds of the formula: wherein X represents the residue of an organic isocyanate, R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1 -C 4 alkyl group, the sum of m+n is at least 10, and R, which is only present when X represents the residue of a diisocyanate or a higher functionality polyisocyanate, represents an isocyanate group or a group of the formula: In the examples monochlorobenzene or crude mixtures of methylene bridged polyphenyl polyisocyanates are emulsified into water using as emulsifier the reaction product of bis (methoxypolyethenoxy) malonate and either (1) diphenyl methane 4, 4' diisocyanate or (2) a mixture of methylene bridged polyphenyl polyisocyanates, or (3) p-butyl phenyl isocyanate. In another example bis (methoxypolyethenoxy) malonate is reacted with a mixture of methylene bridged polyphenyl polyisocyanates and the product emulsified into water.
