Abstract
1417020 Strain gauge transducers BOFORS AB 29 Dec 1972 [29 Dec 1971] 60169/72 Heading G1N A transducer element suitable for measuring gas or liquid pressures comprises an outer member 1 and a coaxial inner member 2 and an annular membrane 3 joining the two members at one end, and beams 4 perpendicular to the membrane 3 and joining the members 1, 2, with strain gauges 5 carried on the beams. Relative axial displacement of members 1 and 2 sets up shear in the beams which is measured by the gauges. These may be connected in a bridge circuit. Various configur- ations of the beams are disclosed Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown) and three or four beams may be provided Fig. 3 (not shown). An upper membrane may also be provided Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), and the arrangement may have channels for cooling fluid. The arrangement may be made from one piece of metal (apart from the strain gauges) and may be of stainless steel.
