Abstract

1416491 Container traffic; tiltable container for pourable material loading; hoppers G ALTMAYER and J ALTMAYER 4 Jan 1973 [7 Jan 1972 8 July 1972] 468/73 Headings B8Q and B8S A container 1 for pourable material is tiltably mounted by trunnions 17 on brackets 16 of a frame 4 transportable on the load platform of a lorry. The frame 4 has extendable legs 5, 6, securable in extended position by pegs entering holes 7. By portable jacks each end of the frame 4 may be raised above the lorry platform so that it can be inserted or withdrawn from beneath it to leave the frame supported on the ground by legs 5, 6 in which position a winch 20 and rope 21 may be operated to allow the container to pivot to the vertical position since its centre of gravity lies between the trunnions 17 and the outlet 19 at all times. The legs 6 lie outwards of the frame 4 to allow the lorry platform to pass therebetween and are swingable upwards and inwards but the front legs may be simply pushable inwards to a retracted inoperative position over the lorry platform. The embodiment of Fig. 6 is similar to that of Fig. 1 except that the legs 5 are in a fixed slightly canted position and have swivel feet 57. An arm 60 is welded to the conical part 58 of the container and may be connected by a rod 59 to the trailer coupling of the lorry so that once the container is set up on the ground it can be tilted by the lorry.
