Abstract

1416270 Aligning railway track FRANZ PLASSER BAHNBAUMASCHINEN-INDUSTRIE GmbH 6 Feb 1973 [7 Feb 1972] 5778/73 Heading B7N [Also in Division G3] A railway track is laterally aligned by the use of a guide-beam, an emitter and a receiver for which is adjusted according to a fixed point of the track and the receiver moved and adjustments made in dependence on the distance travelled. As shown, Fig. 3, a laser beam emitter 2<SP>1</SP> is mounted on a trolley 17 which is positioned on a track 15, 16 adjacent to a fixed point 3 with respect to which a laser beam 4<SP>1</SP> is adjusted by a scale 20. A receiver 51 is initially aligned with respect to a fixed point 7 by rollers 21. The receiver is then moved forward for a distance Y, determined by an inductive pick-up on a wheel assembly 23. The laser beam emitter 2<SP>1</SP> is then adjusted in accordance with dimensions from a track plan 26 read by an operator and set into a computer 32. The pivoting of the laser beam emitter being controlled through a line 33 or a radio link 34, 35. The position of the receiver 5<SP>1</SP> is then centred by aligning the track with the rollers 21. The sequence is then repeated until the receiver reaches a position 39 at which the laser beam emitter 2<SP>1</SP> is transferred to a second fixed position and the receiver 5<SP>1</SP> aligned with respect to fixed point 3. Automatic alignment of the laser beam emitter 2<SP>1</SP> is effected by a unit 8, Fig. 3a, responsive to a signal from a distance recorder 40 over a cable 41. The signal is used by a timing control unit 42 to move a disc or punched card 48<SP>1</SP> from which track adjustment values are read at intervals determined by a step-by-step circuit 47 responsive to the timing control unit and transmitted by a unit 48 to a re-adjusting motor 49, Fig. 3c, for the laser-beam emitter 2<SP>1</SP>. The track-alignment is effected by the actuation of an hydraulic cylinder 22, Fig. 3b, through an hydraulic valve 54 controlled through an amplifier 51 by signals from radiation sensitive elements 37, 38 of the receiver. In alternative embodiments the alignment of the track is adjusted, with forward motion of the aligning rollers, by parallel movement of the beam receiver or emitter. In a further embodiment, two fixed reference points are used simultaneously and the track alignment determined by simultaneous pairs of chords.
