Abstract

1416192 Comminuting-apparatus CUMBERLAND ENG CO INC 15 Nov 1972 [18 Nov 1971] 52788/72 Heading B2A Apparatus for granulating plastics scrap, aluminium cams etc. comprises co-operating knives, the operative areas of which are preceded and followed by screens whereby entering material already of the desired size is not cut and material cut to the desired size is not operated on twice by the knives. In the form shown, material falls down a chute 10 and small enough portions pass straight through a screen 42. Larger pieces are cut by rotary and stationary knives 14, 16 and 32 and if then small enough, pass through a screen 56. If not, they are cut by knives 14, 16 and stationary knife 36. Small enough pieces now pass out through the screen 42 but larger pieces pass again to the knives. The cut scrap is caught in a bin (5) below the granulating means, Fig. 1 (not shown).
