Abstract

1415360 Bursting discs ENERGY SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 18 June 1974 [8 June 1973] 27493/73 Heading F1D A disc 10, Fig. 1, for closing a pressure vessel 16, has a thin wall portion 13, formed by concentric grooves 11, 12, which is ruptured by an explosive charge 19 when the contents of the vessel are to be discharged. The charge is preferably treated on the low pressure side of the disc. A plate 18 contains common salt or expanded polystyrene. One or more detonators are provided. Figs. 3a-3c, (not shown), illustrate alternative groove shapes.
