1414386 Furnace radiant wall SCHWERMASCHINENBAUKOMBINAT ERNST THALMANN MAGDEBURG VEB 6 Dec 1973 [8 Dec 1972] 56665/73 Heading F4B A radiation wall 6, with a frame 16 for mounting in a furnace space 7, comprises a hollow wall member divided by a gas-permeable ceramic wall 3 into a distributer chamber 2 and a combustion chamber 17. Metered fuel from conduit 13 and metered air from conduit 10 is fed as a pressurized mixture through the pipe 1 to the chamber 2 and then through the ceramic wall 3 and is ignited on the surface of the wall 5 by an ignition device 4. Heat from the near flameless glowing wall 5 is evenly radiated to the radiant wall 6 and thence to the furnace space 7. Waste gas leaves through a flue 8 and a heatexchanger 9 may be provided to pre-heat the combustion air. Fuel/air mixture flowing through the ceramic wall 3 cools the wall and is simultaneously preheated before ignition.
