Abstract
1414111 Chlorination of butadiene BAYER AG 4 Jan 1974 [16 Nov 1973] 00457/74 Heading C2C A process for the production of 3,4-dichlorobutene, 1,4-dichlorobut-1-ene and 1,4-dichlorobut-2-ene, comprises reacting chlorine and butadiene at a temperature below 50‹C. in a chlorinated organic solvent containing from 0À05 to 2% by weight of iron (III) chloride, cobalt (III) chloride or nickel (II) chloride as catalyst, the reaction products being separated off by distillation. The desired products are suitably used as the solvent.
