Abstract

1413987 Tubular heat exchangers HALLTHERMOTANK INTERNATIONAL Ltd 14 March 1973 [15 March 1972] 11967/72 Heading F4S In a shell and tube heat exchanger comprising a plurality of transverse synthetic plastics baffle plates 4 arranged to direct the shell-side fluid along a tortuous path between an inlet 5 and outlet 6, the peripheral edge of each baffle plate 4 is formed as a flexible leather edge 12 of reduced cross-section which seals in fluid tight manner against the interior surface of the shell 1. Each baffle 4 is suitably apertured to snugly receive the heat exchange tubes. Peripheral slots 8 are provided for correct location of baffle supporting straps (not shown). Preferably the baffles are made from high density polythene.
