Abstract

1412404 Air intake silencers QUIETFLO ENG Ltd 24 Nov 1972 [10 Sept 1971] 11998/75 Divided out of 1412403 Heading F1B Air inlet silencer comprises a housing having, a first port 15, a second port 28 and a choke tube 30, 31, 32, 33, 17 extending from the first port and opening within the housing, the choke tube following a path which overall is non-rectilinear, the second port being located in a side wall 10 bounding the housing, the first port being located other than in the side wall and the axes of the ports being different and non-parallel. A perforated cylindrical member 19 is provided and creates a space which is filled with acoustic absorbent material 27. In a modification, Fig.3 (not shown), air passes through a filter before reaching the first port and the choke tube includes a second U-bend and a third rectilinear portion which extends parallel to the housing axis.
