Abstract

1412400 Seismic prospecting ELECTROLOCATION Ltd 1 Dec 1972 [4 Dec 1971] 14972/74 Divided out of 1412399 Heading H4D A seismic impulse generator comprises a hammer having a trigger device in the form of a feeler 17 arranged to contact the ground just before the hammer head 11 and so give a signal, and further comprises a transducer 15a for giving a signal at the moment the hammer head hits the ground. The use of this signals is described in the parent Specification 1,412,399 (see Division H4). In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the transducer is included in the hammer head 11 and there is a mass slidable on shaft 12 such that the mass follows the hammer head downwards and exerts a force on it via a spring to retain the head in contact with the ground long enough (50-100 m.sec.) for reflection signals to be received and recorded.
