Abstract
141,199. Johnson, A. April 29, 1919. Ladders; scaffolding.-To prevent ladders, scaffold poles, &c. from slipping, the ends are provided with sockets B to which are hinged cups E having cup-shaped suckers H secured by screws and washers G. The stem of the pole is secured in the sockets B by projections D and clamping- screws C. A set-screw I, Fig. 2, may be used to fix the angle between the socket B and cup E. The mouth of the sucker may be cut at an angle, as shown in Fig. 4. The cup E may be hinged to a part L capable of adjustment in the socket B by a screw M. The cup E may be integral with the socket B, and a pair of sockets may be connected by a screw, which can clamp the two sockets on the two legs of a ladder.
