Abstract

1411965 Metal tubes AMERICAN LA FRANCE Inc 15 Dec 1972 [24 Jan 1972] 58060/72 Heading F2P [Also in Division A5] A mobile apparatus, e.g. a fire fighting vehicle comprises a mobile support and an elongate hollow cantilever boom 10 (Fig. 1, not shown) which includes (1) a first extruded elongate boom section 34 comprising a central web 36 and flanges 38 thinner than the central web 36 to form a flattened U-shaped configuration, one of the flanges having at its free longitudinal edges an elongate groove-joint member 42 and the other a tongue joint member 40, and (2) a second extruded boom section 34<SP>1</SP>, preferably substantially identical to section 34 and which is joined tongue to groove, (Fig. 5, not shown), with section 34 and the elongate joints secured by a longitudinal weld 46 (Fig. 6, not shown), and means, preferably a turntable 14 for movably mounting the boom 10 on the support. The boom may comprise a lower boom member 30 which telescopically receives a smaller but otherwise substantially identical upper boom member 32.
