Abstract

1411372 Digital data processors ELLIOTT BROS (LONDON) Ltd 25 Oct 1972 [24 Aug 1971] 39622/71 Heading G4A A plurality of identical processors 2, 3, 4, 5 (Fig. 1) receive data from a digital store 1 on channel 7 and transmit data to the store on channel 8, the store and processors being controlled by signals on channel 9 from a control unit 6. As described, for use in aircraft simulating systems, the store 1 is a fast access store holding 32 binary words of 16 digits, channel 7 consisting of eight groups of 16 conductors so that two words may be fed to the arithmetic unit 11 of each processor 2-5. Channel 8 consists of four groups of 16 conductors to feed back to the store one word from a register 14 in each processor. Other data from the processors may be fed out on channels 16 for example, to be displayed. Control channel 9 has 16 conductors, seven of which are used for providing address information for read out and read in of store 1, five of which are connected to the arithmetic units 11 and each processor being connected to one of the remaining four. A standby processor unit may be provided to replace the faulty unit. The data fed to the processing units may for example represent vectors relative to a framework fixed relative to the aircraft, the arithmetic unit transforming them into vectors relative to a framework parallel to fixed directions.
