Abstract

1411339 Reciprocating pumps and motors INOUYE SHOKAI KK 15 Feb 1973 [17 Feb 1972 27 June 1972] 7386/73 Heading F1A and F1M A double-acting pump comprises a bucket piston 105, Fig. 7, reciprocated by a fluid-actuated piston 22 to draw liquid through inlet 28 and discharge it through piston passage 101 to outlet 108, as shown, or through an outlet in the side of the piston, Figs. 12 to 14 (not shown). The piston 105 and rod 102 may slide in cylinders 104, 103 without bellows 110, 111, Figs. 6 and 12 (not shown). Bellows 110, 111 sealingly connect the piston rod bore to outlet 108 and piston port 106 to inlet 28, respectively. In Figs 8 to 11 (not shown), the spaces between the bellows and their respective cylinders are oil-filled and automatically and manually actuated valves are provided for making-up leakage losses of the oil. Piston 22 may be pneumatically or hydraulically actuated either under the control of a changeover valve 120, Fig. 7, connected mechanically or electrically to a device 114 operated at the end of each stroke by a rod 112 on piston 22, or under the control of the valve arrangement of Fig.15, in which pipes 209, 210 connected to the piston 22 communicate with the chamber 119 beneath the piston and move sleeves 203, 204 at the end of each stroke to open or close the appropriate valves 223, 225, 224, 226, 227, 229 and 228, 230. The valves control the connection of inlet 213 and outlet 214 to chambers 118, 119. Spring-loaded detents 221, 222 hold the sleeves 203, 204 in position until spring 215, 216 are sufficiently stressed by the piston movement to cause valve changeover.
