Abstract

1410451 Vibrating hoppers/pneumatic discharge of hoppers ABRASIVE DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 25 May 1973 25176/73 Headings B8S and B8A A resiliently supported hopper 1 is vibrated by a vibrator 28 and has an outlet 3 in its base 2, the outlet 3 being registered with a discharge opening 9 in a false bottom 8 also carrying a sieve 10, and a vertical pipe 18 in the hopper being connected to supply pressurized air into the body of the hopper and, via an opening 8a in the bottom 8 and a passage 16 between the bottom 8 and the base 2, to a location downstream of the discharge opening 9 so as to entrain material shaken through the opening 9. As shown the passage 16 is defined by a gasket 14. A baffle 27 prevents material, supplied to the hopper through an inlet 26 from falling into the pipe 18. The hopper is supported either on a gas-filled flexible tube 4 or by a flexible wall closing the top of a gas-filled trough.
