Abstract

1410364 Spray producers CIBA-GEIGY AG 11 Dec 1972 [9 Dec 1971] 57050/72 Heading B2F An aerosol dispenser comprising a piston pump 15 for generating compressed air as a propellant, a product container 2 separate and remote from the pump, flow paths 10, 25 for product and compressed air, respectively, valves 11, 20 associated with the flow paths 10, 25, and an abutment 31 in the pump for opening the compressed - air valve 20 at or near the end of a compression stroke, the product valve 11 being caused to open in response to the opening of the compressed-air valve 20, and the product container 2, a spray nozzle 5 and product valve 11 constituting a single unit detachably secured to the piston 18. Upon opening the valve 20 compressed air flows through the Venturi nozzle 5 and aspirates product from the container 2 via a slotted membrane valve 11. Alternatively, the valve 20 may be provided with an extension rod (48) Figure 7 (not shown), which abuts against a product valve member (45) to mechanically open the product valve simultaneously with the compressed-air valve 20. The piston is detachably mounted in the cylinder by means of a bayonet joint (Figure 4 not shown). Various forms of product flow-controlling valves are described.
