Abstract

1410146 Cooling conductors D J GOODMAN 10 Nov 1973 52271/73 Heading H1A [Also in Divisions H2 and H5] A cable for supplying an electric arc furnace comprises stranded conductors 18 each enclosed in a respective perforated elastic tubular jacket 24 and surrounding a central elastic perforated coolant conduit 20, the whole being enclosed within an elastic casing 26. The jackets 24, conduit 20 and casing may all be of rubber. In use cooling water passes through the conduit and jacket perforations to circulate between the strands of the conductors. In a modified cable only alternate conductors are enclosed in a jacket.
