Abstract

1409995 Spinning viscose SNIA VISCOSA SOC NAZIONALE INDUSTRIA APPLICAZIONI VISCOSA SpA 27 March 1974 [6 April 1973] 13648/74 Heading B5B [Also in Division Dl] Viscose filaments, spun from spinneret 10 into coagulating bath 12 are stretched, treated, washed and dried in a unitary assembly enclosed for the protection of operators in chamber 46. The filaments are stretched in stretching tube 14 and then passed around treatment roller 18 and auxiliary rollers 28. Roller 18 is divided into zones 18a by flanges 20. The filaments are exposed to the action of various treating and washing liquors in the zones 18a by spraying, preferably, or by pouring the liquors on to the filaments. Used liquors are collected in tank 22 separated into zones 22a and conducted away via conduits 26. Individual filaments 30a-30d are passed around the rollers 28a-28d in that order and are then transferred by a suitable means to the next treatment zone after washing. After each treatment, the filaments are washed free of the reagent. However, in order to prevent progressive contamination of the washing liquors, the treating reagents may be partially removed before washing. This may be accomplished, as in Fig. 5 by gas jets 56, playing upon the filaments, or as in Fig. 6 by passing the filaments through a device having an elongated body 60, chambers 62 and 66 connected to gas conduits 68 and 70. The gas supplied to this device is previously dried and preferably heated. After treatment the filaments are dried, either, as in Fig. 1, by passing around the terminal zone 18a which is heated, or as in Fig. 4 (not shown) by passing the filaments through a heated drying tube.
