Abstract

1409631 Spinning; drawing and texturizing BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 2 Jan 1973 [3 Jan 1972] 158/73 Heading B5B Filaments of a synthetic polymer are produced by a continuous process in which they are melt-spun with spin-drawing, cooled sufficiently to prevent their mutual adhesion, drawn in at least two stages and then texturized. Certain conditions must be obeyed: the filaments are spun at a temperature of from 260‹ to 295‹ C. and at a spin-draw ratio of from 1 : 10 to 1 : 60, the temperature of the surface of the first drawing device is from 50‹ to 120‹ C. and of the last device from 80‹ to 350‹ C., and the draw ratio is such that the extensibility of the drawn filament is from 10 to 50%, the velocity of the filaments at texturing is from 800 to 3000 m./min. with an overfeed of from 10 to 50% and the filament temperature, before texturizing is from 50‹ C. to 180‹ C. The preferred texturizing agent is hot air. The process is illustrated for poly-3-caprolactam.
