Abstract

1409049 Boots etc turf aerators C W SEWELL 27 Nov 1972 [27 Oct 1971] 49980/71 Headings A1B and A3B A lawn aerator consists of a one-piece base plate 10 which can be attached to the foot of a wearer, the base plate having tines 30 distributed over it to penetrate soil, and the toe 12 of the base plate 10 being inclined upwardly from the remainder 11 of the base plate 10 so that the tines on the toe will not fully enter flat ground at the same time as the tines on the remainder of the plate. This arrangement facilitates walking. The aerator may be attached to the foot by straps 17, 23 which pass through slots in lugs 14, 20 on the base plate. The tines 30 may be formed on a plate 31 which is spotwelded or bolted to the base plate 10. Alternatively the tines 30 may be formed in pairs from inverted U-shaped pieces of metal individually welded to the base plate 10.
