Abstract

1409001 Frequency measuring -BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 14 March 1974 [22 March 1973] 13879/73 Headings H3A and H3H A frequency measuring circuit comprises means for measuring the periodicity of an incoming signal and an amplifier 28 having a feedback circuit 30 whose effective resistance is varied in dependence on the measured periodicity such that the amplifier output is proportional to the frequency of the incoming signal. The input signal is converted to a square waveform by shaper 10 and divided-by-two in divider 12 to produce a control signal which opens gate 14 for alternate cycles of the input signal. When gate 14 is open, high frequency pulses from an oscillator 16 are counted by counter 18. After a delay produced by monostables 20, 22 the value attained by counter 18 during one cycle of the input is transferred to a store 24, and after a further delay counter 18 is cleared by the output from monostable 24. The store 24 actuates switches 26 which connect predetermined resistors 30 into the feedback path of amplifier 28, such that the resulting output is proportional to frequency.
