Universal joints comprise a " header " or disk 10 secured by a key 13 to the tapered end of a shaft 12, and a like " header " 11 sliding on the square end 18 of another shaft 19. A pair of shouldered lugs 20 are detachably secured as by nuts 25 to each " header " in diametrically oppo. site apertures so as to present two pairs of alined bearings 21 engaged by gudgeons 22 on the arms of a cross 23. When two joints are used together, only one need permit of axial movement.
