Abstract
1407775 Conveyer on a vehicle FOCO NEDERLAND BV 31 May 1973 [17 July 1972] 25922/73 Heading B8E [Also in Division B7] In a load-handling and distributing apparatus, a rectangular load carrier 14 supported on running wheels 15, 16 may be propelled by wheeled driving carriages 13 which are equidistantly spaced along a continuous conveyer chain 12 travelling around pulleys 10, (11), the carrier 14 having guide rails 26 on its underside, shown in Fig. 5, said rails diverging towards one end 31 of the carrier for co-operation with a correspondingly shaped guide member 25 on a driving carriage 13, and a stop element 27 is provided for engagement with an abutment means formed by an end 24 of a pivoted lever 20 on the carriage 13 to retain the rails 26 and member 25 in co-operating engagement and thus transmit drive to the carrier 14. The rails 26 are formed by the side edges of a plate 30, at the mid-width of which a tongue portion is bent downwards from the plate to form the stop 27. The front wheels 15 of the carrier 14 which are lifted out of contact with the support surface when the carrier is engaged by a carriage 13 cannot rotate about vertical axes whereas the rear wheels 16 can so rotate, the plate 30 being adjacent to the wheels 15. A spring 23 is attached to the lever 20 so as to bias its end 24 upwardly for engagement with the stop 27. As shown in Fig. 1, the pulleys of the conveyer chain are mounted on the ends of a support beam 9 which is located on the floor 2 of a vehicle 1 for loading of the vehicle, the beam 9 being movable longitudinally of the vehicle.
