Abstract
1407219 Seed distributor ATELIERS RIBOULEAU 26 Sept 1972 [29 Feb 1972] 44487/72 Heading AlD [Also in Division B8] In a single-seed seeder the distributing wheel 8 has at least two concentric circles of holes 21, 22 arranged with one or two outer holes 21 and one inner hole 22 between adjacent fins 24. A stationary deflecting arm 32 has its edge 33 covering the holes 21 as they pass it but leaving the holes 22 at least partially uncovered. As the wheel rotates in the direction f, of the several seeds a, b, c picked up by a hole 21 by means of suction applied via pipe 26 and space 27a, only the leading seed a is transferred to the corresponding hole 22 as the seeds a, b, c are deflected radially inwardly by the arm 32 towards the hole 22 to which suction is applied beyond the arm 32 via pipe 26 and space 27b. The seed a is carried beyond the region 27b on a fin 24 into a descent passageway 36 and falls down over the edge 37a out of the opening 37. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the holes 21, 22 are formed in a ring which is releasably attached to the hub of the wheel 8 so that different sized holes may be provided for different seeds. In Fig. 5 (not shown) the wheel 8 consists of two discs disposed over one another and separated by the fins 24. In Fig. 6 (not shown) the descent passageway is narrower than shown in Figs. 1-3 and the fins 24 do not extend completely between adjacent sets of holes 21, 22. In Figs. 7-9 (not shown) the amount of suction applied can be adjusted for seeds of different weight. An opening to atmosphere in the pipe 26 has a cover which can be swivelled to partially obturate the opening. In Fig. 10 (not shown) the single seeds are transferred to the outer holes from the inner holes. In Fig. 11 (not shown) three concentric circles of holes are provided, seeds being transferred from the outer to the middle holes and then to the inner holes. The second transfer may be necessary to ensure that only one seed is left in the inner hole if light seeds are being planted.
