Abstract

1407104 Tent-like buildings; frameworks SEAMAN CORP 20 July 1973 [31 July 1972 20 June 1973] 34751/73 Headings E1A and E1K A plurality of trusses 20 are interconnected to form a rigid, domed framework 11 covered with a flexible covering 12 which is tensioned equally in directions longitudinally and laterally of the trusses by means of a cable 13 which extends between the bases of adjacent trusses and is attached to the covering along a curved line. The cover is a woven fabric and is tensioned to form a saddle shape between adjacent trusses. The arcuate openings formed at the bottom of the covering 12 are closed by a curtain 75 which may be secured to the outer chords 31 of the trusses by brackets and have its lower end secured by a cable 91 and adjustable tension device 93. Alternatively, the curtain may be secured to the trusses' inner chords and have its upper end clamped to a frame cross-member 145. A filler panel extends from the member 145 to sealingly engage the covering 12. The cables 13 may be tensioned by loops engaging ratchets on the trusses Figs 13, 14 (not shown) or by a chain 93 adjustably engaging a hook secured to the ground. Details are given of the structure of the covering 12 and the curtains and also the manner of determining the shape of the covering.
