1406083 Curtain cord control E M L PARKIN 10 Sept 1973 [13 Sept 1972] 42418/72 Heading A4B [Also in Division B8] A device for controlling the movement of cords 1, 1', for use in drawing curtains &c., comprises a reversible motor driven winding drum 4 having one end of each cord 1, 1' attached thereto for winding thereon. Such that as the drum is rotated in either direction, one cord winds up whilst the other unwinds, control means being provided to stop the drum drive when the unwinding cord end moves in a direction at right angles to that of the cord travel during unwinding due to the cord end moving into a position for winding back onto the drum. The control means associated with each cord end is a micro-switch 7, 7' controlling the device motor, the cord normally running close thereto during winding and unwinding on one side of the drum, but engageable therewith as the cord end anchored to the drum moves to start winding the cord on the other side of the drum at the limit of unwinding with continued rotation of the drum. The cord ends are anchored to the drum by double passage through bores 6, 6' therein. The drum is driven from an electric motor through a gearless and electric clutch which becomes disengaged when the motor is switched off, facilitating manual pulling of of the curtains &c. connected to the cards. The cords of monofilament nylon leaving the drum, are formed into a loop which is passed over a pulley arrangement with the curtains &c. attached to opposite runs of the loop. The loop may be formed from a separate cord 9 attached to the two cord ends 1, 1' through apertured friction coupling plates 8, 8'.
