C. engine comprises fuel injection apparatus 20, including an airassist nozzle, positioned in an intake manifold 20, means 34 for measuring the amount of air entering the inlet of a first conduit 30 which has an outlet in communication with an air inlet passage 14 of the intake manifold and a second conduit 42 in communication with the first conduit 30 downstream of means 34 and with the air-assist nozzle.
