Abstract
1404649 Two tariff meters SIEMENS AG 9 Oct 1972 [9 Oct 1971] 46506/72 Heading G4D [Also in Division F2] In a two tariff electricty meter, alternative counting tains 2, 3 are coupled to the drive by a gear 8 pivoted on a lever 14 which carries a permanent magnet 18<SP>1</SP> which cooperates with an electromagnet 17 to cause the gear to engage one or other of two drives 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. The lever is held in the position shown by magnet 18<SP>1</SP> attracting the soft iron core 19, 22. When the electromagnet 17 is energised the magnet 18<SP>1</SP> is repelled by the core to change the position of the lever. The magnet 18<SP>1</SP> can be inverted so that the lever normally occupies the other position (Figs. 3, 4, not shown). Arms 34, 35 of a wire spring lock whichever drive is not being used.
