Abstract

1404267 Oligodynamic water purifier CONSOLIDATED FOODS CORP 5 Dec 1973 [7 Feb 1973] 56355/73 Heading C1C A water purifier comprises a tank having a water inlet and a water outlet, a waterpermeable treatment bed in said tank between said inlet and said outlet and comprising activated carbon and oligodynamic silver capable of killing disease-causing bacteria in water, and a porous filter at the outlet side of said treatment bed having a porosity such that the filter clogs sufficiently substantially to reduce the water flow rate before the passage of a volume of water through the bed sufficiently large to reduce significantly the water-purifying effect of the bed. A storage tank may be connected after the outlet of the above tank, to hold the treated water, which contains silver, to allow the purifying effect of the silver to continue. A portable water purifier which allows collection of the purified water in a drinking cup is also claimed.
