Abstract

1404228 Skates METTOY CO Ltd 28 Sept 1973 [26 Oct 1972] 49390/72 Heading A6D A skate comprises a chassis to which are secured separate heel and toe straps, each formed as a one-piece moulding of a flexible synthetic resin material, and provided with, lace holes formed through locally thickened portions of the strap. The skate may be an ice skate, but as shown is a roller skate having three rollers 14 of which the middle roller is lower than the end rollers. The heel strap 1, of polyurethane rubber or p.v.c., has lace holes 2 formed through strengthening bosses 3, and attachment holes 4 formed through thickened strips 5. Ankle holes 7 are chamfered at the edges to make them more flexible. Reduced thickness tongues 8 underlie laces when tied around the top of the heel strap, integral studs 9 preventing the laces from riding-up. The toe strap, Fig. 5, has attachment holes 10 formed through bosses 11, and lace holes 12 through thickened strips at its ends. The two straps are secured to the sole plate of the skate by rivets, &c passed through the attachment holes 4, 12.
