Abstract
1403423 Couplings for cavity resonators SIEMENS-ALBIS AG 11 Aug 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 37503/72 Heading H1W Aresonator is coupled to a line element or to a semi-conductor element by means of a V-shaped or U-shaped resonant aperture 1 having a central tongue 2 parallel to the electric field in the resonator. The overall configuration of the aperture may be rectangular, oval or (as shown) circular. In the example shown, the dimensions dl, d2 and d3 are equal to each other and D + d1/2##/4. The aperture 1 may be arranged in the wall of a cylindrical cavity 3 utilizing the circular-electric wave mode. The narrow conductor 5 of a strip line 5, 8 lies adjacent and parallel to the tongue 2. Alternatively, the conductor 5 may be connected to the tongue 2. Both these arrangements may also be applied to a coaxial-line (Fig. 2, not shown). Coupling to a rectangular waveguide is effected by arranging the axis of the aperture parallel to the narrow dimension of the guide at the centre of an end wall (Fig. 3, not shown). A diode may be connected across the gap between the tip of the tongue 2 and the opposite wall of the aperture (Fig. 4, not shown). The aperture is tuned by bending the tongue 2.
