Abstract

1403365 Automatic control of fluid flow SIMON ENG Ltd 25 Aug 1972 [2 Nov 1971] 50793/71 Heading G3R To control the flow (mass per unit time) of material (granular, powder or liquid) from a hopper 10 by a feeder 11, the combined weight of material and hopper is continuously measured electrically and the signal differentiated before comparison with a reference value, any difference being used to adjust means 12 for regulating the flow, the hopper and feeder being supported on a cantilever beam 14, rigidly supported at 15 and the proximity of this beam to a detector 16 being used as a measure of the weight. The system is held at its last setting while the hopper is refilled.
