Abstract

1403304 Locking hinges ETABS BERTRAND FAURE SA 2 July 1973 [3 July 1972] 31485/73 Heading E2F [Also in Division A4] The adjustable backrest of a vehicle seat can be swung forwardly from a particular adjusted position to allow access to the rear and then returned to the particular adjusted position by forming the toothed locking member 14 of the backrest in two parts 38 and 39, part 39 being provided with teeth for engagement with a toothed stop 24 on the seat rest for locking the backrest in the adjusted position and part 38 being slidably mounted on part 39 such that release of a locking finger 40 which holds the two parts together allows sliding of part 38 relative to part 39 and hence forward swinging of the backrest. Locking finger 40 is slidably mounted in a channel 41 in part 38 and spring loaded into engagement with a recess 42 in part 39.
