Abstract

1403043 Counting apparatus VDO ADOLF SCHINDLING AG 1 Sept 1972 [4 Sept 1971] 40732/72 Heading G4D Apparatus for determining the rate of operation of a production machine has a unit pulse counter for counting the units produced, this counter resetting a clock-driven further counter after receiving a predetermined number of unit pulses, outputs of the further counter being connected viarespective switching elements to an AND-gate stage to recognize a particular count predetermined by the positions of the switching elements. The count of the unit counter is decoded and displayed. The unit counter is decimal and the carry output of the units order thereof also resets to zero the clock-driven further counter, partially enables a first AND gate and resets two bi-stables. The two bis-tables are set by respective further AND gates each input of each of which is connected by a respective changeover switch to a respective output of the further counter or to a "1" bit line. The further AND gates set the two bi-stables respectively on attainment of respective counts (selected by the switches) in the further counter. The set and reset ouputs of the two bi-stables respectively, form the remaining two inputs of the said "first" AND gate which thus provides an output (via another bi-stable) if the count of the further counter produced between successive carries from the units order of the unit counter, falls within the limits defined by the switches.
