Abstract

1402938 Reciprocating pumps CANADA TIEFBOHRGERATE-UND MASCHINENFABRIK 21 Dec 1972 59273/72 Heading F1A A deep well pump comprises a cylinder 1 attached to a pipe run at sleeve 2 and a suction nozzle at sleeve 3 and having a removable suction valve 15 which can be coupled to the pump piston 5 for removal, or is connected to the piston by a rod or chain for removal. The piston 5 is connected to an actuating rod by a threaded socket 7. Flow through the piston is controlled by a sleeve 6 axially. movable relative to the piston 5, and having a portion 11 sealingly engageable with a conical seat 13 to prevent through-flow during the upward stroke. The suction valve 15 has a sleeve 17 engageable with a seat 21. As shown, piston 5 has a threaded socket 14 engageable with a threaded projection 25 on valve 15, the piston being rotated to engage the valve and the piston and valve being rotated to unscrew the threaded connection 24 of the valve to sleeve 3. In Figs. 2 and 4 (not shown), a rod fixed to the piston slides in a sealed axial bore through the valve and has a non-circular cross-sectional shape at its lower end for engaging a correspondingly shaped bore portion or recess in the valve, so that rotation of the piston in its uppermost position unscrews the valve for removal on the end of the rod. The cylinderengaging portions 9 and 17 of the piston and suction valve are of resilient material, e.g. vulcanizable synthetic rubber, secured to sleeves 6 and 17. The central parts of the piston and suction valve are shaped to define flow passages, Fig. 3 (not shown).
