Abstract

1402796 Golf club heads WILSON SPORTING GOODS CO 6 Aug 1973 [21 May 1973] 37247/73 Heading A6D A wood-type golf club head 11 has an insert 13 on the striking face and a dense weight 24 held within the insert by resin 26. As shown, the insert 13 has a bore 18 with a tapered recess 20 and a groove 19 to lock the resin 26 over the weight 24. The weight 24 is also held by adhesive 25 in a shallow recess 21 and a decorative washer 23 is placed around the weight. The resin 26 may be a transparent epoxy resin with a machined curved striking face 27.
