Abstract

1401341 Texturising yarns IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 June 1973 [13 July 1972] 32812/72 Heading D1F In a texturising process whereby thermoplastic synthetic e.g. polyamide, polyacrylonitrile or polyethylene terephthalate, yarn is sequentially stretched by draw means e.g. a roll, and passed directly thereby into a zone wherein it is crimped by heating, cooling and false-twisting, the twist running back from the false-twister towards the draw means is arrested (without affecting the yarn tension) by a twist damming element e.g. an adjustably positioned pin or series thereof or of pulleys or rollers or the separator roll which normally coacts with the draw roll, between a heater in the zone and the drive means. As shown, undrawn yarn 1 delivered to a feed roll 2 passes to a draw pin 3, thence to a stepped draw roller 5, around the small diameter portion 6 and separator roll 4, again around portion 6 to a twist damming element consisting of guides 7, 8, 9 around which the yarn is wrapped. Yarn then passes around heated roll 10 and cooled yarn after passage through guide 11 passes through a friction (false-) twisting bush 12, guide 13, around the larger diameter portion 14 of roll 5, around separator roll 4, through guide 11 to be wound by ring and traveller 16 onto a bobbin. Two (or more) yarns may be textured simultaneously and twisted oppositely.
