Abstract

1398106 Ball joints ARMSTRONG PATENTS CO Ltd 20 Nov 1973 [7 Dec 1972] 56459/72 Heading E2F In a ball joint of the type in which a housing 10 closed by a cover 22 has a seat for a ball pin 18 formed in two parts 14, 16, the seat part 14 is provided with a number of projecting ribs 20 against which the cover 22 bears to preload the seat part. Either or both of the seat parts may be made of a plastics material such as a cross linked polyurethane material and an elastomeric sealing ring 24 is interposed between the cover and housing to provide a lubricant and dirt seal and to contribute resilience to the preload when required.
