Abstract

1397945 Salts of urea with inorganic acids IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 April 1973 [4 May 1972] 20848/72 Heading C2C Substantially dry crystals of addition compounds of urea with inorganic acids are made by introducing in substantially equimolar amounts a concentrated urea solution or melt at 110- 132‹ C. and a concentrated inorganic acid into one end of a drum fitted with longitudinal shaft and paddles, and agitating and propelling the mixture towards an outlet at the other end, while passing a heated gas through the drum. The urea solution is preferably at least 80% and the shell of the drum is preferably maintained by a heated jacket at a temperature not exceeding 100‹ C. The process is described with reference to phosphoric acid (50-70% P 2 O 5 ); possible use with sulphuric acid is mentioned.
