Abstract

1396899 Direct connection; two part couplings AMP Inc 8 Nov 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 55028/72 Heading H2E A sheet metal contact for crimp connection to a flat-conductor cable comprises a double sheet base 5 and a platform 20 overlying and spaced from the base, one layer 7 of the base having a through aperture 6 overlying the concave surface of an embossment 8 in the other layer 9 of the base, the platform having a lance 22 aligned with the aperture 6. The contact shown has two apertures 6 and two lances 22 overlying a single embossment. In use a flat cable end is positioned between the platform and base which are crimped so that the lances pass through the cable insulation and conductor, through their respective apertures and are then deflected laterally by the concave surface.
