Abstract

1395689 Sun visors HAPPICH GmbH Gebr 24 May 1973 [31 May 1972] 24794/73 Heading B7J A sun visor has a body 6 mounted on a base 1, with swivel pins 3 received in bearings 2 by which the body may be swivelled into desired positions relative to the base, the pins 3 and bearings 2 being made of a synthetic plastics material, and the pins 3 have circumferential undercuts 4 engaged by complementary projecting rings on the bearings 2 whereby the body 6 is located axially of the pins relative to the base 1. The pins 3 are formed integrally with either the base 1 as in Fig. 1, or a reinforcing insert 5 of the body 6 as in Fig. 2, the bearings 2 being integral with either the body 6 or the base 1 respectively. In order to define an inoperative position of the sun visor body, parts of the pins may be of non-cylindrical cross-section, for example by the formation of opposed flats (9), Fig. 4 (not shown), which register with complementary parts of the bearings. The body 6 is moved to an operative position by distortion of the synthetic plastics material of the pins and bearings to rotate the parts out of register.
