Abstract
1395040 Pneumatic false twisters J P STEVENS & CO INC 28 Dec 1972 [29 Dec 1971 11 Dec 1972] 59777/72 Headings DID and D1F A false twister comprises a chamber 4 with a tangential gas inlet 5 to spin at least one loop of yarn, a yarn infeed 2 extending into the chamber at an acute angle, and a member 8 located downstream of the gas inlet with a surface at right angles to the direction of yarn. The member being lockable in a position in which it extends right across the chamber or a position in which it extends only partly across the chamber. As shown the member is a circular section rod. A drainage vent 9 is provided in the chamber. In an alternative embodiment Fig 4 (not shown) two angled yarn inlets are provided. The device may be mounted in a metal housing with sound proofing material. The device may be used for texturising and/or plying yarns. In texturising the amount of texturising is controlled by adjustment of the rod 8. Similarly in plying this adjustment controls the ratio of plying to texturising. Yarn fed to the device may pass through a wetting container 13 and over a heater 17. A similar heater 18 may be provided for yarn leaving the device. Polyester, nylon, acrylic and blended yarns are given as examples of material which may be texturised, and in plying the core yarn may be cotton. Suitable temperatures and feed rates are given.
