Abstract
1394709 Waste disposal apparatus HOBART MFG CO 19 Dec 1972 58644/72 Heading B2A Waste disposal apparatus comprises a pulping tank 10 Fig. 1 carrying at the bottom a perforate sizing ring 13, an impeller plate 20 at the bottom of the tank having cutting elemepts 40 which may be removable and replaceable in its upper surface which is arranged lower than the sizing ring. The sizing ring carries downwardly extending cutters and the impeller plate also carries cooperating cutters which together form a cutting zone. The impeller plate also carries blocks 41 bearing teeth 40 which cooperate with plates 42 carried by the bottom wall 12 of the tank to effect a scissors-cut. Discharge is facilitated by pump vanes 44 under the impeller plate. A band 54 is secured to the bottom wall 12 of the tank to alter the shape of the vortex and prevent passage of material across the centre of the impeller plate. In a second embodiment cutters 100 Fig. 5 are brazed to screws 96 which are screwed into tapped holes of an impeller plate portion 91. The impeller plate may comprise a base plate portion 30 secured to a supporting plate 31, and sector shaped plates 33 secured to the portion 30.
