Abstract

1393839 Crucible furnaces SOC FLUXO 16 Aug 1973 [7 Sept 1972] 38874/73 Heading F4B A crucible melting furnace 1 supported at its periphery by a gas-tight refractory structure 3 enclosing a combustion space 4 having a burner 5 and a duct 7 for exhausting combustion gases at the side, has a double wall 8 defining a chamber 9 extending around and above the structure 3. The chamber 9 is connected with a duct 10 equipped with an extraction fan 11 and has an annular air inlet 13 extending around the periphery 2 of the crucible to exhaust the gases given off by the crucible charge and a lateral air inlet 14 through which ambient flows to cool the furnace wall. The lateral outer wall 15 of the chamber rests on a protruding portion of the base 6 of the supporting structure and an annular cover 16 is mounted over the chamber 9.
